Your functional vision comes from the connection that is made up from the eyes and brain working together. When you go for a regular eye exam, only the physical health of your eyes and your ability to focus on stationary objects are checked.
However, your eyes are not often focusing on stationary objects, your eyes need to be able to focus on moving objects in daily tasks such as driving a car.
A regular eye exam does not test these elements of your vision, therefore, crucial dynamic vision skills such as eye movement and co – ordination are missed.
Signs that you may have impaired functional vision include:
- Struggling to concentrate
- Rereading or skipping lines in print
- Having a short attention span
- Poor reading comprehension
- Poor co-ordination and balance
- Slow to complete work
- Experienced a previous brain trauma i.e. concussions, strokes
- Losing interest in reading
- Experiencing frequent headaches
RightEye Functional Vision EyeQ is a 5 – minute, non-invasive test performed at our centre that could discover a functional vision impairment you weren’t even aware you had, we then have the tools to put you on the right path to improvement.
“Functional Vision EyeQ enables optometrists to move away from rudimentary manual eye motility exercises that are limited in their ability to uncover issues related to vision function, to truly comprehensive and quantifiable evaluations. This is critical as functional vision is the vision everyone needs to live, work and play safely and successfully.” – Adam Gross, RightEye co-founder and CEO
