ACUPUNCTURE

Discover effective acupuncture treatment in Chiswick to improve well-being, relieve stress, and reduce pain. The NHS commonly employs acupuncture for pain management, as it helps reduce discomfort from a variety of conditions.

As a key part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), acupuncture prompts your body’s natural ability to heal itself. Acupuncture works by releasing endorphins and neurotransmitters, including serotonin and dopamine. These chemical messengers transmit signals between nerve cells within the body, which help regulate pain, mood, and sleep.

Acupuncture Solutions at Omnia

We provide tailored acupuncture treatments in Chiswick to suit your needs. Our services include Traditional Acupuncture, Electro-Acupuncture, Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling, Facial Acupuncture, Tui Na massage and Cupping therapy.

During your acupuncture session, fine needles are inserted into specific points based on your condition. We sometimes lightly twirl or move these needles according to different conditions. We then allow the needles to remain in place. Our treatments ease muscle tension, alleviate chronic pain, and target myofascial trigger points, promoting natural healing and well-being.

During your Acupuncture journey, we prioritise your comfort and well-being. Before treatment, we provide detailed explanations of the options, protocols, contraindications, and risks associated with Acupuncture. We recommend using loose-fitting clothing to allow easy access to acupressure points, or you may be asked to remove some of your clothes, so the practitioner can access certain parts of your body. The initial consultation involves understanding your medical history, symptoms, lifestyle, and overall health to create a tailored treatment plan.

THE PATIENT JOURNEY

I was at end of my tether when I went to Omnia to start my series of pain relief treatment for my plantar fasciitis on my heel. Prof Wu started with acupuncture followed by relief of the swelling from my knee down. I got instant relief for about an hour. Although my swelling has reduced substantially, I do appreciate that relief of pain from plantar fasciitis can take weeks if not months. I intend to continue with the treatment and will have my next treatment later this week as I find Prof Wu an excellent therapist. I would thoroughly recommend Omnia. Staff are extremely helpful and pleasant.”

Stuart H – November 2023

“Very nice experience. Prof Wu helped me so much to relief from neck and shoulder pain with amazing Tui Na skills. Definitely recommend.”

Yi Z – September 2023

I had acupuncture treatment for a pulled muscle on my back. I received a very professional and friendly service and after one session my issue was resolved and after a couple of months I have not had any reoccurrence.”

Kevin M – August 2023

“Thanks to Omnia Lifestyle’s Acupuncture treatments, my decade-long battle with hay fever and rhinitis is over. With Dr Wu’s expertise, I no longer rely on medications or steroids. Grateful for a life without constant suffering!”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Is Acupuncture safe for children?2025-03-28T15:33:27+00:00

Yes, it is safe for children and babies. In some cases, children respond more quickly to acupuncture than adults. If your child has an aversion to needles, the practitioner may recommend Acupressure or Tui Na Massage.

Two surveys were published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ). They found that the risk of serious injury from acupuncture is less than 1 in 10,000. This risk is much lower than that of most standard treatments. The needles used are single-use, sterile, and disposable.

How many Acupuncture sessions will I need?2025-03-28T15:32:17+00:00

The frequency of treatment and the number of sessions needed depends on several factors. These include your body type, mental state, and the severity and length of your health issue. Your lifestyle habits and the amount and quality of your Qi also play a role.

Acupuncturists believe that health determinants are unique to each individual. Typically, some change is noticed within 5 or 6 treatments, although occasionally 1 or 2 treatments may suffice. Chronic conditions typically require more time to resolve than acute ones.

Should my doctor know?2025-03-28T15:25:35+00:00

If your doctor has given you medication, please tell your GP that you are thinking about acupuncture treatments. You should continue your regular medication. During the first consultation, your acupuncturist will inform you of any issues.

These may include metal allergies, hemophilia, or taking strong blood thinners. You may be advised to see your doctor if the acupuncturist sees any risks during your visit or after treatment.

Does Acupuncture hurt? What does treatment feel like?2025-03-28T15:11:56+00:00

Many people avoid acupuncture because they think needles will hurt. Acupuncture needles are fine. They are about twice the size of a human hair. They are also ten times smaller than a regular hypodermic needle.

Most people find acupuncture calm and relaxing. Patients often describe the needle sensation as a tingling or dull ache. This is a sign that the Qi is being stimulated and released, indicating that the treatment is working. At Omnia, we also offer Electroacupuncture and Fu Needle treatments, which minimise any fear or discomfort caused by needles.

Is Acupuncture available in the NHS? Will it be covered by Private Health Insurance?2025-03-28T14:56:57+00:00

Acupuncture is sometimes available on the NHS from GP practices and physiotherapists. The treatment is also available in most pain clinics and hospices in the United Kingdom. Most acupuncture patients pay for private treatment. Increasing demand for complementary medicine has promoted private health insurance companies like AVIVA and BUPA to cover acupuncture.

Why is your tongue assessed for Acupuncture?2025-03-28T14:20:12+00:00

The tongue acts like a barometer, reflecting the health and well-being of your internal meridians and organs. The acupuncturist will examine your tongue’s colour, shape, cracks, and coating. This helps them understand how your body is working overall.

Why is the pulse assessed for Acupuncture?2025-03-28T14:02:53+00:00

There are 12 pulse positions on each wrist that the acupuncturist will palpate. Each position corresponds to a specific meridian or organ system. They will observe the quality of your pulse, looking for certain characteristics that reflect your overall health.

This includes pulse rate, strength, and width. Pulse testing allows the acupuncturist to pinpoint which imbalance is causing the disease’s symptoms.

Why do Acupuncturists recommend Herbs?2025-03-26T17:43:58+00:00

Herbs can be a powerful adjunct to Acupuncture therapy. People use traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to strengthen, build, and support the body. It also clears it of excess problems like a cold, fever or acute pain. To build your internal strength, the acupuncturist may suggest starting with herbs and then acupuncture for better results.
